Elizabeth Canby Morris

Elizabeth Canby Morris, also known as Bess or Bessie, was Marriott C. Morris’s only sister.  The second child of Elliston Perot and Martha Canby Morris, Bess attended the Germantown Friends’ School like her brother.  Bess and Marriott shared many mutual friends and often went on excursions together.  Marriott often asked after Bess in letters to his mother, revealing an affectionate sibling relationship.  Throughout her life, Bess supported many charitable organizations in Germantown, including the Germantown Employment Society for Women.  Elizabeth suffered a stroke in 1942 and died in 1947.
